TW Ponessa Partnership

York Adams Academy is pleased to announce the addition of a partnership with T.W. Ponessa & Associates Counseling Services to provide in-school therapeutic counseling services to our student learners who are in need of such assistance.

Why the Need:

Through conversations with students, parents and staff, York Adams Academy has identified a growing need for mental health support services for students within the program. Frequently, barriers such as transportation or work schedules prevent students from being able to access mental health care outside of school.

York Adams Academy believes that by offering these in-school services we will be able to remove some of the potential barriers and provide support to our learners. This will assist the students by getting the help they seek and ultimately leading them to find academic success.

How it Works:

Starting on October 9th, 2018, a T.W. Ponessa Counselor will be available, on an as needed basis, at both York Adams Academy locations for in-school therapeutic counseling sessions with students in need.

YAA’s Director and Coordinator of Student services will work collaboratively with T. W. Ponessa to identify students who may be in need of additional therapeutic counseling services for conditions ranging from ADHD/ADD to anxiety, depression and others. In addition, offering therapeutic counseling services in school will minimize the disruption to the student’s day by reducing the amount of time needed for therapeutic counseling appointments.

T.W. Ponessa has a dedicated therapeutic counseling space located at each location. This space includes a door with a window and a space for storing (and securing) confidential records.

York Adams Academy’s Director and Coordinator of Student Services will refer students to T. W. Ponessa as needed for evaluation and possible therapeutic counseling services.

All counseling visits will be billed directly to insurance carriers and T.W. Ponessa’s Financial Services Department will handle all insurance and billing inquiries.
